I'm Bre Cain: founder, CEO, speaker, and advocate for a new way of working.
Before entrepreneurship, I built my career in corporate recruiting and higher education, eventually serving as a Director of Donor Relations at a university. Then motherhood changed the way I thought about work entirely.
What began as one woman looking for a more flexible way to build a career became The Cain Collective: a multi-seven-figure company spanning education, talent placement, and technology.
Today, I'm building companies at the intersection of work, leadership, and opportunity and speaking about one of the lessons I've learned at every stage: the skills that make you exceptional at doing the work aren't always the skills required to lead at the next level.
I built the training program, placement agency, founder community, and future workforce platforms because women deserved a bigger opportunity than the traditional path they were handed.

HOW IT ALL STARTED
The honest version is that I left corporate sobbing, became a stay-at-home mom, and eventually found the virtual assistant industry by typing “remote jobs” into Indeed with absolutely no idea where that search would lead me.
It turns out, pretty far.
I started my virtual assistant business from the kitchen table of our ten acre farm in Minnesota and hired my first team member within my first month. I spent the next year building, learning how to lead, and testing what was possible while my husband thought my $30K month goal was adorable. Thirteen months later, I hit my first $100K cash month and I have never once let him forget it.
But somewhere along the way, this became about much more than building my own business.
Today, The Cain Collective is a multi-seven-figure company spanning education, talent placement, and technology. We've trained over 500 women through the VA Leadership Academy, connect growing businesses with exceptional virtual assistants through ICON & Lightning, and built VAVA to give independent professionals the tools and infrastructure to build stronger businesses of their own.
What started as one woman looking for a different way to work gave me a front row seat to something much bigger: a fundamental shift in how people build careers, how businesses access talent, and what modern leadership requires.
I've experienced that shift from nearly every angle: as an employee, a freelancer, a founder, an employer, and a CEO. And through every stage, I've learned that getting to the next level rarely requires becoming better at doing everything yourself. It requires becoming a better leader.
Turns out, that “remote jobs” search was never just about finding a job. It changed the way I thought about work entirely and ultimately became the work I'm here to do.
